Canadian Red Cross recognized as one of the top 100 charities in Canada

(Ottawa, June 26, 2012) ?MoneySense, a personal finance magazine, has published its review of Canada?s top 100 charities and the Canadian Red Cross is proud to be among it top ranked charities in the country.? The Canadian Red Cross earned an A+ grade in every category, including overall charity efficiency, fundraising efficiency, and governance and transparency, and is among only two charities that appeared on both the biggest and top-rated lists.?

?The Canadian Red Cross is delighted with the MoneySense results,? says Conrad Sauv?, secretary general and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross.? ?Being recognized as one of the top 100 charities gives our donors the confidence and assurance that the Canadian Red Cross will use their donation to make the greatest possible impact in the lives of vulnerable people around the world.?

The MoneySense rating is designed to help donors get a better idea for how efficiently charities use their money with the goal to provide Canadians with the information they need to make smart giving decisions.? The information obtained is received from Canadian Revenue Agency, websites, and the charities themselves.

?The Canadian Red Cross is dedicated to keeping our fundraising costs and governance structure efficient so that funds are put to work as our generous donors intend,? adds Sauv?.

The Canadian Red Cross is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which includes the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross and 187 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Our mission is to improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity in Canada and around the world.
