A 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck in the central Philippines on Tuesday morning, collapsing roofs and buildings, cracking walls and roads and killing at least six people.

The quake was centered 56 kilometers (35 miles) deep below Carmen town on Bohol Island and was felt across the region.

Radio station DZMM quoted civil defense officials as saying that four people died when part of a fish port collapsed in nearby Cebu city, across the strait from Bohol.

Two more people died and 19 were injured when the roof of a market in Mandaue in Cebu province collapsed, according to TV reports. People rushed out of buildings and homes, including hospitals as aftershocks continued.

Photos from Cebu broadcast on TV stations showed a fallen concrete 2-story building, and reports said two people were pulled alive, including an 8-month-old baby.

Bohol Gov. Edgardo Chatto said that a church was reported damaged in the provincial capital of Tagbilaran and a part of the city hall collapsed, injuring one person.

A 17th-century stone church in Loboc town, southwest of Carmen, crumbled to pieces, with nearly half of it reduced to rubble. Other old churches dating from the Spanish colonial period, which are common in the central region, also reported damage.

Tuesday is a national holiday and that may have reduced casualties because schools and offices are closed.

Earthquakes are common in the Philippines, which lies along the Pacific "Ring of Fire."

Cebu province, about 570 kilometers (350 miles) south of Manila, has a population of more than 2.6 million people. Nearby Bohol has 1.2 million people and is popular among foreigners because of its beach and island resorts.

TuneCore Reports Milestone Earnings; $330 Million in Artist Payments Since Inception

Digital distributor TuneCore has shared some impressive numbers, none more eye-catching than the $330 million the company says its artists have earned since it opened for business.

TuneCore Artists have earned a third-of-a-billion dollars in sales revenue since launch in 2006, on more than 4 billion cumulative streams and download units, Billboard can reveal.

The firm also reports artist earnings grew 20 percent in the January-September 2013 period, against the same period in 2012, and that TuneCore artists saw a 135 percent increase in music downloads and streams over the same timeframe. A string of new product and service enhancements launched in recent months which played a part in the spike, the company notes. TuneCore identifies new store partnerships including Gracenote and Shazam, along with JUKE and 7digital international streaming services, which are “providing (artists) even greater worldwide music exposure and opportunities to grow their music revenue.”

It’s been four months since TuneCore revealed it had paid-out $300 million to its clients since its inception, on 3 billion cumulative streams and downloads.

TuneCore's commitment is to “providing all artists with affordable distribution and publishing administration solutions to build successful careers, get their music heard worldwide, and make money from their music,” comments the company's COO Scott Ackerman in a statement. “We congratulate all our TuneCore Artists in achieving this $330 million earnings milestone.”

TuneCore, which pays out all revenue it collects from digital services directly to artists, charges those clients an introductory album fee of $29.99 for the first year, and $49.99 each following year.

Set fees also apply for single distribution, ringtone distribution and publishing administration. TuneCore Music Publishing Administration licenses and registers songwriters' compositions globally and collects royalties from more than 60 countries.

2 Competing Brokerages Land in Legal Battle | Realtor Magazine

Iowa’s largest real estate agency, Iowa Realty, filed a lawsuit last week accusing a competitor, Keller Williams, of trying to damage its reputation.

Iowa Realty alleges that Keller Williams filed an earlier lawsuit as a way to try to “harass and embarrass” Iowa Realty. The Keller Williams lawsuit alleged, among other things, that Iowa Realty had refused to share commissions equally with Keller Williams agents who had sold homes listed by Iowa Realty. Keller Williams accused Iowa Realty of denying its Des Moines agents $600,000 worth in commissions since Keller Williams opened its office there in April 2012.

About a month ago, Keller Williams dropped the lawsuit. But now Iowa Realty has filed a lawsuit accusing Keller Williams of filing a frivolous lawsuit that it had “never intended the courts to resolve.”

“They have given us no choice but to defend ourselves and bring final resolution to this situation,” says Mike Knapp, president and CEO of Iowa Realty, who also accuses the brokerage of attacking its Iowa Realty agents via social media at both local and national levels.

Brian Wentz, CEO of Keller Williams Des Moines, declined to comment on the specifics of the latest lawsuit, but denied any wrongdoing. “We’re very proud of our agents for doing the right thing with consumers,” Wentz told the Des Moines Register. “They continue to show and sell houses whether the competitor is paying them a dollar or not.”

Crighton Racing CR700P – Because Pistons Are So Passé

Crighton Racing CR700P Because Pistons Are So Passé Crighton Racing CR700P rotary 03

At 300 lbs dry and producing 200hp, the Crighton Racing CR700P should catch your attention right away. Diving deeper into the machine, the CR700P’s 700cc twin-rotor rotary engine should further pique your interest — and then of course there is the Crighton Racing’s interesting past.

Astute observers will note that the Crighton Racing CR700P looks exactly like the Norton NRV588, and that is because of the involvement of Brian Crighton in both projects. A continuation of the project that started out in the Norton Motorcycles R&D laboratory in 1986, the Crighton Racing CR700P is the realization of Crighton’s dream to build a rotary-powered motorcycle that can top the very best racing bikes in the world.

For a bit of back story, Crighton’s work at Norton eventually evolved into the NRV588 project by the time 2006 hit the calendars. Finding rotary engines banned in virtually every racing league, and watching Norton Motorcycles go a different direction with its brand, the 700cc project was spun out of Norton and into Crighton’s own marque, Crighton Racing.

Now debuting the 700cc iteration of the twin-rotor machine, the Crighton Racing CR700P revives our rotorlust, and looks bonkers both on paper and on video.

The frame is still the SPONDON number from the NRV588 days, with the rest of the chassis being fairly “normal” with its Brembo/AP Racing brakes and Bitubo suspension pieces. The showcase element is of course the Rotron RT700 Twin Rotor Rotary engine.

Making 200 hp at 11,000 rpm and 100 lbs•ft of torque at 9,500 rpm, the Crighton Racing CR700P is easily in liter-bike territory with its engine output, though it is a bit peaky, as rotaries tend to be. We imagine the CR700P is a bit like a 500cc two-stroke in its power delivery, a thought that seems to be confirmed by the company’s video below. “Fucking quick” is the phrase, is it? Where can we sign-up for a turn boys?
